Bogus Bullet Theory Dream
I was at MLK Park in Indianapolis
where RFK announced King’s death in 1968:
the Landmark for Peace statue depicts them
reaching out to each other. When I walked up,
they were wagging their bronze tongues. Both agreed
that Trump knew the would-be assassin was coming:
that Trump wanted to give him a role. MLK
was despairing; “This twisting of reality seems so hard
to overcome,” he said. RFK just saw Shakespearian
irony. “All the world’s a stage,” he said.
It wasn’t the first time he used a good quote instead
of an original thought. Often this was good enough.
But not for King who replied, “I’ve been to the
mountaintop and I’ve seen his shit-stinking mouth.”
